EXPUNGING / VACATING CONVICTIONS, SEALING RECORDS, AND RESTORING FIREARM RIGHTS

Call Now 360.336.8722

The Howson Law Office represents individuals who wish to vacate convictions, seal Juvenile Court records, and/or restore firearm rights for matters which occurred in Skagit County Washington. “Vacating” a conviction is sometimes referred to as “expunging.”

Not all convictions can be vacated and not all people are eligible to vacate a conviction, seal a record, or restore firearm rights, so it is first necessary to determine a person’s eligibility. Once it has been determined that the person is completely eligible to apply for the requested relief, a petition is created with a certification (sworn document) to be signed by the client.  The matter is then set for hearing.

NOTE: Most class “B” Felony convictions may be vacated after 10 years and class “C’s” after 5 years.  Class “A” crimes (maximum sentence 20 years to life) may not be vacated. Likewise, sex offenses and convictions for driving under the influence (DUI). In all instances the person must have completed the requirements of the sentence including payment of financial obligations before the time begins to run.

Firearm Rights may not be restored if the conviction was for a Class “A” felony or for a “Sex Offense.”

FOR PURPOSES OF DETERMINING COMPLETE ELIGIBILITY, PLEASE FILL OUT THE FORM BELOW AND SUBMIT IT. HOWSON LAW OFFICE WILL REVIEW THE INFORMATION THAT YOU PROVIDE AND CONTACT YOU IF YOU APPEAR TO BE ELIGIBLE.
